FAQ

Emergency Fire Escape Smoke Mask Frequently Asked Questions

1. General Product Information

What is the SAFEXIT Emergency Fire Escape Smoke Mask?
It is an emergency smoke mask designed to protect you from hazardous gases and extreme heat, providing a critical "golden time" (up to 15 minutes, depending on the environment) to safely escape a fire.

How is this mask different from regular masks or standard gas masks?
Unlike traditional gas masks that use a "dry filter" system, the SAFEXIT mask features an innovative "wet filter." This wet filter cools down the intensely hot air from a fire, preventing severe respiratory burns. Additionally, it is highly affordable, compact, and designed for a universal fit, making it easy to store at home, in offices, or in vehicles.

How exactly does the wet filter work?
The wet filter works on the same scientific principle as covering your nose with a wet towel during a fire. It uses UV-sterilized, ultrapure distilled water to cool inhaled air and neutralize harmful gases. An active carbon filter inside the mask then provides a secondary layer of protection by absorbing toxic gases.

Why does the mask include a front visor?
Hot smoke can severely damage your eyes and impair your vision during an evacuation. Our full-cover design includes a heat-resistant front visor to protect your eyes, secure your vision, and prevent facial burns.

Can I use this for chemical spills or as a regular gas mask?
No. This mask is specifically designed and certified solely for fire and smoke evacuation emergencies. We do not recommend using it for industrial chemical leaks or other non-fire-related situations.

2. Fit, Usage, and Accessibility

Is the mask easy to put on? Do I need special training?
It features a highly intuitive design that requires no prior training. Simply tear open the packaging along the dotted line, pull it over your head, and fasten the velcro straps for a perfect seal. It takes only a few seconds.

Can children or people with smaller faces use this mask?
Yes! The mask features a patented dual-structure interior. For children and individuals with smaller faces, the inner elastic band securely catches and tightens around the chin, preventing smoke from entering.

I wear glasses. Do I need to take them off in an emergency?
Not at all. The mask features a patented pleated structure next to the visor that stretches to comfortably accommodate eyeglasses without breaking the secure seal. You can keep your glasses on for clear vision.

Will it be hard to breathe with the mask on?
No. The mask features a built-in double exhaust valve on the front. This valve quickly releases your exhaled breath (carbon dioxide and heat), allowing fresh air to flow in smoothly and preventing the inside of the mask from feeling stuffy.

Will toxic gas leak in through the gaps around the mask?
You don't need to worry. The elastic rubber band securely seals the mask to your face. Additionally, because the inner fabric is wet, it adheres closely to your skin, providing a double barrier against any toxic gas leaks.

3. Technical Specifications & Safety

What kind of fabric is used for the mask?
The mask is made of a sanitary, non-woven fabric. While the fabric itself is not inherently fireproof, the moisture retained in the mask provides a "semi-non-flammable" effect—much like a soaking wet tissue—preventing it from catching fire even if sparks hit it.

Is there any risk of the front visor melting onto my face?
No. The visor is made of an advanced, flame-retardant film capable of withstanding extreme heat up to 725°F (approx. 400°C). Even if temperatures exceed this limit, the material will not melt onto your skin; it is designed to simply shatter like glass.

(Note: The visor film has a yellow tint due to the nature of the polyimide material, but it has excellent visible light transmittance and will not obstruct your vision).

Are the natural extracts in the mask safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. The natural extracts are explicitly formulated to help neutralize harmful gases and promote mental tranquility for a calm evacuation. All materials and purified water used are strictly sanitary, certified, and completely safe for skin contact.

Has the mask been tested and certified?
Yes. The product has acquired Disaster Safety Certification, KC Certification, and has passed rigorous performance tests—including smoke control and detoxification tests—from accredited institutions. It holds multiple registered patents and is exported globally.

Are there any real-life cases where this mask was effective?
Yes. During a major apartment fire in South Korea, residents who used this mask evacuated safely without any physical harm, while those who evacuated without protection suffered from severe toxic gas inhalation.

4. Storage, Maintenance, and Purchasing

What is the shelf life of the product, and does it require maintenance?
The mask has a shelf life of 3 years from the manufacturing date. Because it contains a wet filter, it is tightly sealed in a strong, multi-layer vacuum package (with a 99.99% air barrier) to prevent the moisture from drying out. No special maintenance is needed—just store it in a cool, dry place and replace it when it passes its expiration date.

Is the mask reusable?
No, it is strictly a single-use emergency product. Once opened, the moisture evaporates, which drastically reduces its ability to filter toxic gas and block heat.

Where should I store these masks?
Because the packaging is incredibly lightweight (about 3.5 oz) and flat, they are easy to store anywhere. We highly recommend keeping them in bedrooms, kitchens, cars, dorms, and high-traffic public facilities like schools, hospitals, and corporate offices.

Can I bring this mask on an airplane when traveling?
Yes. It is lightweight and contains no prohibited materials, making it perfect to slip into your carry-on or checked luggage.
